This edition will focus on the multiple opportunities that the new technologies provide in terms of enhancing competitiveness and business productivity
New projects, alongside monographic exhibition areas and a number of well-established sections will be presented as the best means of boosting the development of an industry that needs to make a significant impact in Spain The VIVERO (START-UPS) Project will channel the participation of a number of up-and-coming businesses or newly founded companies. Leading members of the industry will also reveal their commitment to the fair by setting up a series of measures aimed at creating a promotional forum that provides a true insight into the industry. The fair will also cater for the information needs of the general public by incorporating a new section designed exclusively for consumers: SIMO E-LIFE SIMO 2006 is preparing a new edition at which it will present a technological horizon that is clearly aimed at boosting the development of the industry, based on the incorporation of a number of new projects and new sections. These measures represent a step forward in the fair´s ongoing commitment to boost the penetration of the information and communications technologies. In effect, this edition will confirm its role as an important catalyst for the industry, enabling visitors to gain a far-reaching insight into the multiple opportunities that the new technologies offer them in terms of enhancing competitiveness and business productivity, as well as providing a boost for consumer demand. The International Data Processing, Multimedia and Communications Show , organised by IFEMA, will take place between 7th and 12th November in Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, the Central Exterior Area and the North Conventions Centre at Feria de Madrid, making up a forecast net exhibition area measuring more than 50,000 square metres. The number of exhibitors is expected to increase by 10%, which means that participation is expected to surpass the figure of 800 exhibiting companies. This new edition of the most important fair of its kind in Spain and the second most important in Europe, will present a global perspective of the most significant trends of the moment through the renewed attendance and participation of leading members of the industry, as well as the proven innovative capacity of large and small companies, thus confirming SIMO´s role as the main point of reference regarding the latest advances in information and communications technology in Spain. In this respect, SIMO 2006 will present a versatile exhibition, one that adapts at each edition to developments in the market in order to offer a forum that is capable of boosting the expansion of an industry that needs to become definitively established in Spain. In short, alongside its traditional approach of exhibiting products and new features, this fair is constantly developing a new fair model, one that is capable of meeting the new promotional needs of companies within this sector through a series of more dynamic and more closely interconnected areas and new initiatives aimed at supporting the industry. In this respect, one of the most important new features at the next edition of SIMO is the Vivero (Start-Ups) Section, an initiative designed by IFEMA whose essential objective is to promote the participation of up-and-coming or newly-founded companies at the fair, as well as to promote their new products and services on a mass scale. In short, this measure will offer them a promotional forum and an excellent opportunity to make contact with potential clients, whilst also stressing the importance of R+D within the general economic context and within the field of informati on technology and communications, in particular. SIMO E-Life: This Year´s Grand Initiative for Consumer Products and Services Along the same lines, another of the new features at SIMO 2006, which will be aimed at the general public this year, will consist of the first-time presentation of the SIMO E-Life Hall. With this new section, SIMO aims to achieve an optimum balance among all its exhibition sections with a view to boosting the penetration of the information and communications technologies within the world of trade and business, as well as within the field of leisure and household life. In this respect, an event has been designed that focuses on electronic leisure aimed at all individuals who wish to incorporate the benefits of digital technology into their daily lives. SIMO E-life is aimed, therefore, at the consumer market, based on an exhibition that provides visitors with an integral digital leisure experience that revolves around a single environment made up of various different fields, ranging from information and entertainment to sports and cultural aspects. SIMO E-Life will take place in Hall 6 between 9th and 12th November (Thursday to Sunday). New Contributions to the SIMO 2006 Exhibition on the Part of Sectorial Associations Another of the new features at SIMO 2006 is the agreement that has been signed with ENTER, the Centre for Analysis of the Information and Telecommunications Society, which belongs to the Instituto de Empresa. This represents a further step forward in terms of enhancing the informative and promotional vocation of the fair. Through this collaboration agreement, SIMO will become the presentation forum for the most recent conclusions and studies presented by ENTER in relation to the Information Society. A conference programme will be designed in order to provide an overview of the most important questions relating to the new digital economy in Spain. The active participation of ENTER at SIMO represents an increase in the number of leading members of the industry who are prepared to back the fair´s efforts to promote trade activity, to boost investment in the information and communications technologies and to create an informative forum where visitors can discover the latest market trends. At this edition, the fair will also work in conjunction with associations such as AETIC, the Association of Electronics, Computer Technology and Telecommunications Companies of Spain, ASIMELEC, the Multi-Sectorial Association of Spanish Electronics and Communications Companies, and FUNDETEC, the Foundation for the Info-Technological Development of Companies and Society, in their capacity as members of the SIMO Organizing Committee. Furthermore, as at previous editions, AETIC will promote a section for small and medium-sized companies operating within the information and telecommunications technology sector. It will also organize, in conjunction with the Latin American Association of Information Technology Bodies (ALETI) and with the institutional support of the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute (ICEX) and COPCA, a ´Latin American Information and Communications Technology Business Meeting´, which will feature the participation of representatives from Latin American Associations (in 15 countries) and business leaders within the IT and telecommunications industries in both Latin America and Spain. AETIC also aims to present the results of a study on ´Security and Confidence´ in the use of new technologies, throughout the course of SIMO. ASIMELEC, which attended the last edition of SIMO with an area devoted to the theme of security, is studying the possibility of expanding its presence this year with a number of new working areas in addition to security, such as the environment and the digital home. The Association, which has carried out a number of intensive activities withi n these fields, currently has three environmental foundations that cater for the waste management needs of companies that need to fulfil the European regulations in this respect. Furthermore, barely a couple of months ago, ASIMELEC presented its first Digital Home User´s Guide. ´These measures´, according to José Pérez, the Managing Director of ASIMELEC, ´will be reflected at our stand at SIMO and will form part of the participation project that we are currently studying´. For its part, FUNDETEC aims to focus its contribution this year on the Vivero (Start-Ups) Project. In this respect, it has set aside 9,000 euros that will be used to reward the most outstanding products and services among all those that are presented in this new section of the fair. This initiative links up with FUNDETEC´s objective of contributing to the development and promotion of the Information Society in small and medium-sized companies and among the public by actively boosting IT training and the integration of new technologies. Also for the first time, AEDOC, the Spanish Digital Documentation Association, and SIMO will promote those companies linked to the Digital Documentation Sector in an exhibition village measuring 1,000 m2, combined with a presentation area in the same section of the fair, located in Hall 5. This exhibition area will be complemented by a conference programme, which will tackle the following aspects, among others: The Management of Digital Contents and Documents; the Management of Digital Documents and Contents at Companies and Institutions; the Management of Digital Photographs, Maps, Graphics, Radiographs, Audio and Audiovisual Media; and Regulations and Legislation Relating to the Management of Digital Documents: ISO/UNE Standard 15489 and Others. Other activities that will be carried out in relation to this new project include the presentation of a Report on Digital Documentation 2006 to the media, as well as the staging of a dinner and the awards presentation of a number of Digital Quality Seals to companies and institutions that have initiated or completed the digitalization of their documents. SECARTYS Promotes Contact with the Foreign Market As at previous editions, SECARTYS, the Spanish Association of Electronics and Information Technology Exporters, in collaboration with SIMO and under the sponsorship of the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute (ICEX), will invite various delegations of foreign buyers from Europe and Latin America to Spain, offering them an opportunity to discover the wide range of products and services that exists in Spain within the IT and telecommunications field, especially in relation to software applications, hardware, telecommunications, networking and other areas. The contribution made by SECARTYS to SIMO this year will be extended with the staging of a series of informative conferences on Spanish products and services within the IT and telecommunications field, and the organisation of a series of interviews between companies and the guest delegations, based on a diary of some 200 separate meetings. The buyers will also tour the stands at SIMO and visit various factories and production centres throughout Spain, gaining first-hand knowledge of the quality levels and competitiveness of Spanish products. ACCEDA and IFAES Renew Their Attendance at the Fair with a Series of Established Projects For the third consecutive year, SIMO will host the staging of a well-established area known as Comunidad Digital (Digital Community), organised by ACCEDA, which will focus on the infrastructures required for a digital city, digital public services and digital home products and services to become a working reality. Comunidad Digital will place special emphasis on Government-Private Companies-Citizen cohesion based on the use of new technologies, through the presentation of a real working environment. Through the recreation of a Digital City, this section aims to provide an integral insight into the benefits provided by a series of good technology infrastructures when it comes to providing services to the public and being able to gain access to a more extensive range of entertainment, leisure, education, security and health services. From the point of view of public administration, this section represents a simple and intuitive way of showing members of the public how both time and money can be saved through ´electronic´ links with administrative bodies. Users are able to discover an extensive range of services, products and applications that can enhance their quality of life, both in a professional and personal sense. Another of the recently incorporated areas of the fair that will be presented again at SIMO is the Call Center + CRM Solutions Exhibition, a leading event organised by IFAES, which, this year, predicts a 30% increase in terms of its exhibitor and visitor numbers. The central theme of this event will revolve around ways of attracting clients, keeping clients and winning their loyalty. Furthermore, the exhibition will feature an area measuring more than 2,000 square metres, in which different suppliers will present their products and services to a high-profile target group made up of many of the leading companies within the industry. Today, the Call Center + CRM Solutions Exhibition is the largest Spanish meeting forum for professionals working within the Call Centre profession, bringing together all the suppliers within the sector, ranging from hardware and software manufacturers to specialized consultants, integrators, service outsourcing forums and temping agencies, etc. Alcatel, Altitude, Atento, Datapoint, Grupo GSS, IPSA, IZO Systems, Mediafusion, Randstad, Presence Technology, Prosodie España, Siemens, Telefonica, Teleperformance, Unisono, and Ydilo are some of the companies that will participate at this edition.
