IBERJOYA will stage its thirty-ninth edition between 13th and 17th September at FERIA DE MADRID, presenting the latest trends within the jewellery, timepiece, silverware and related segments for the Autumn-Winter 2007/08 Season.

This fair, organised by IFEMA in collaboration with the Jewellers and Silversmiths' Guild of Madrid and the Spanish Association of Jewellers, Silversmiths and Watch-Makers, will bring together more than 550 direct exhibitors, including the most important companies from Spain and abroad. IBERJOYA, the leading point of reference for the jewellery trade in Spain and one of the most strongly established and outstanding events on the European calendar of jewellery fairs, will once again provide the best promotional and trade forum for the industry. In recent years, this industry has revealed a considerable capacity for adaptation, catering for the new trends and needs that result from fashion developments.

New Ideas for Autumn-Winter 2007/08

The collections presented by prestigious designers and manufacturers at the leading jewellery and timepiece companies participating at this edition have been produced within the framework of an eclectic approach, with their latest ideas offering a collage of ideas, shapes and contrasts with no strict boundaries. Daring colours, exaggerated volumes and reminiscences of other cultures will be the main characteristics of the new collections for Autumn-Winter 2007/08.

This edition will propose five general themes around which the most innovative lines presented at the fair will revolve: Classical Sea Dream is the most luxurious and sophisticated approach; Architectural Obsession, is inspired by architecture that challenges dogmatic approaches, earthly boundaries and the force of gravity; Natural Seduction will present a range of mild and harmonious lines, based on considerable volume and comfort; Historical Exploration will search for a form of elegance imbued with simplicity. With regard to timepieces, time means, above all, fashion, and the brands will launch their collections with one eye on the fashion parades, through the theme known as Time Is Fashion, which will introduce a series of lines based on a new, refined and simple image, although XXL formats will continue.

Classical Sea Dream

This theme presents the most luxurious, sophisticated and exotic version of the latest jewellery creations, one in which ocean blue, pebbles and seafaring shapes play a leading role, along with pearls and coral in designs that make up lengthened, suggestive, superimposed and movable lines. In short, these jewellery creations are generous in terms of size, beadwork and beauty. We will come across artistic influences, sparkling colours, either matching or contrasting, accompanied by a series of exquisite and exclusive designs that present a certain flavour of family inheritance.

Architectural Obsession

In this theme, jewellery pieces are constructed, sculpted, modulated and articulated with geometric rigour and an essential artistic sense, reworking a form of cold minimalist rationalism or a warm superimposed appeal reminiscent of pop, op-art and Calder's mobiles. The use of metal, black and white and urban shades predominates. Precious gems, materials and technological finishes are combined. Furthermore, the wearer can enjoy the unique experience of assembling her own jewellery items, transforming them according to use and whim.

Natural Seduction

The search for the essential is reflected in a series of organic designs of mild and rounded design, featuring considerable volume and comfort. We will come across an abundant use of chains, circles, spheres and rounded and floppy forms that recall the works of Dali. Colour is essential, daring and presents a touch of humour. Multi-coloured gems will abound, presented in classic cuts or as cabochons, tears and balls. The materials and textures employed convey a sense of balance and harmony with nature. The small and simple combine with exaggerated features. A wild appeal coexists with a delicate sensuality.

Historical Exploration

A combination of textures endows freely-mixed materials with an appearance of being something other than they are. Uncut stones are chosen, although they offer an exceptional sparkle, purity and beauty. Pieces are extended like tattoos, inspired by souvenirs from far-off lands, mysterious amulets that have legendary meanings, either real or apparent. The aim is to create a sensation of being unique, through form and style.
Time is Fashion

TIME is no longer just money. Time is, above all, fashion. And brands launch their collections with one eye on the fashion parades, presenting a wealth of lines and colours to cater for diverse preferences, situations and personalities. A new and refined simplicity is introduced, although XXL formats continue to appeal. Casings are reduced, whilst sumptuous, minimalist shapes abound, with faces and numbers competing in originality through the use of diamonds and beadwork. Wrist watches, bracelets and straps offer a varied range of textures. Timepieces have entered the Internet era, whilst exclusive timepieces have perfected their mix of functional appeal, technology and style. The interest in automatic watches for women is growing.

Furthermore, with a view to promoting these trends, the fair will stage the Iberjoya Trends Fashion Show for the sixth consecutive year. Coinciding with the trade exhibition itself, on the afternoon/evening of Friday 14th September the latest new ideas in jewellery and timepieces will be showcased at this key fashion event. Under the heading of "IBERJOYA CROISIERE", the Fashion Show will feature a spectacular backdrop and setting designed to evoke all the glamour and fascination of cruise trips around the Mediterranean. During the cruise, a number of prestigious top models will exhibit all kinds of pieces especially chosen to match different occasions.

IBERJOYA will be staged to coincide with INTERGIFT, the International Gift Fair and BISUTEX, the Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Trade Fair. These three events, leaders in their respective sectors, aimed exclusively at the trade, will bring together the products and services of over 2,200 exhibiting companies.

The next edition of IBERJOYA, will be open all day from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., except for the last day of the fair, when it will close its doors at 3.00 p.m.
