The next edition of IBERJOYA, the International Jewellery, Silverware, Watch and Related Industry Exhibition, which is due to take place at FERIA DE MADRID between 13th and 17th September, will provide the setting for the presentation of a unique sculpture entitled "Save the Planet", a piece created by Manuel Carrera, with which the prestigious jewellery designer enters the field of environmentalism and reveals his strong awareness regarding the climate change problem.
This creation will be one of the star pieces at the exhibition that, in the same way as at the fair's last edition, the company, Joyería Sanz, will be organising in collaboration with IBERJOYA. This special exhibition will present a selection of the most spectacular works from the exclusive collection of sculptures by Manuel Carrera.
Manuel Carrera's creations have always been characterised by their passion for nature. "Save the Planet" is a unique piece that has been signed and numbered by the company, Sanz by Manuel Carrera. It depicts the drama of a group of men and women of different ages as they endeavour to join the melting ice caps to the continent as they are drifting away, in an attempt to save some of the animal species at risk of extinction. With this special reinterpretation of the consequences of global warming, the creator seeks to make his own small contribution in terms of raising awareness within society. "With this creation I seek to express my concern at the deterioration of the environment, so that everyone who contemplates my work will spend a few minutes reflecting on this issue", states Manuel Carrera. The work has been made with silver plated in 18-carat gold and a series of minerals in their natural state and in sculpted form (blue quartzite, needle-shaped crystallised quartz and plates of sculpted quartz). Each of the species has been hand-sculpted, following all of the steps employed in traditional craftsmanship with precious metals.
The exhibition will be located in the central passageway in Hall 12 at Iberjoya, FERIA DE MADRID.
