Magic 2007: International Launch of Bindi Wear at MAGIC kids in August
Australia Zoo Proves ‘Green is the New Black’ with International Launch of Bindi Wear at MAGIC kids in August
Clothing with a Cause Helps Kids Make a Difference
MAGIC International, the world’s largest and most widely recognized trade show organizer for the fashion industry, today announced that Australia Zoo will make the international debut of their “clothing with a conscience” line for the first time this August at MAGIC kids in Las Vegas. Bindi Wear International, an environmentally friendly full-fashion line for babies (newborn to 2 years) and girls and boys (3-10 years), aims to build young people’s awareness for the environment and promote conservation of wildlife by helping Australia Zoo spread their message through fashion. “We are thrilled that Bindi Wear International, by Australia Zoo has chosen MAGIC kids for the international launch of this meaningful and much-anticipated line of kids clothing,” said Christopher McCabe, vice president and general manager of MAGIC International. “Kids offerings throughout the MAGIC Marketplace are always evolving, and it’s incredibly satisfying to provide a stage to showcase their line for the first time to thousands of attendees from 80 countries.” The award winning Bindi Wear clothing line has been sold exclusively in Australia Zoo stores since Bindi was a baby. In 2002 it won the Qantas Kids section at the Retailers Association of Queensland (RAQ) Fashion awards. Now with this new clothing line and environmental message ready to launch worldwide, Bindi Wear International is making its global debut at MAGIC kids because the show provides the greatest visibility within the international fashion industry. By launching the line at MAGIC kids, Australia Zoo also will have the opportunity to expand their message to young people from all over the world. “Like Bindi, our range is unique. We are not only creating an innovative collection of comfortable, durable and affordable clothes, but we also are creating wildlife educational opportunities and an avenue for kids to make a difference in the world,” said Palmina DiStasi, one of the designers of Bindi Wear International. “MAGIC International is the best avenue for us to launch this line and for our message to be heard.” The spring/summer 2008 line comprises four themes: “Green is the New Black,” which promotes Koala conservation; “Jungle Safari,” which features crocodile camouflage prints; “Baby Warrior,” which offers fun animal prints for babies; “Punk Warrior,” which allows kids to protect animals and the environment; and “Industrial Cowgirl and Cowboy,” which shows the beauty of creation enhanced by technology. All themes create a lifestyle for children so that they can feel like they’re making a difference in the world. Each theme includes daywear, sleepwear, swimwear, footwear and socks, plus accessories including bags and hats. The retail prices for Bindi Wear International range from $20-$50 for newborn to size 2 and $25-$60 for girls and boy sizes 3-10. A portion of the proceeds will directly support Australia Zoo’s conservation programs, such as Endangered and Priority Species Breeding, Field Study, Habitat Acquisition, Animal Rescue, Wildlife Documentaries and Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
