News for hotels in ITH technological equipment salon

The ITH is researching innovative technologies to the hotel industry with the aim of improving the services, the communication technologies and even to optimise the food handling; all this with the aim of reducing costs, planning and simplifying routines.

With the support of the COTEC Foundation, the Hotel Technological Institute is carrying out an analysis of the state of innovation within the industry. The aim of this project is to discover and provide a general overview of the innovation process within the industry as a whole. This study will have a high strategic value, given that it will be the first to clearly define the concept of innovation that applies specifically to the hotel trade.

Technological innovations can certainly be promoted by communication measures. In this respect, another of the initiatives to be presented at HOREQ 07 is the  National Workshop on Technologies Applied to the Hotel Sector. ITH and the Foundation for the Development of the Information Technologies in Companies and Society, FUNDETEC, will thus target all small and medium-sized hotel establishments that are interested in incorporating the information and communications technologies (ICT) into their business procedures or in optimising their use.

A number of outstanding projects will also focus on food preparation in hotels. The main aim of the project entitled "Cocina S.XXI" ("Twenty-First Kitchen") is to optimise the entire food handling, elaboration and presentation process with a view to reducing costs. At the same time, this project offers a number of solutions in order to lower costs and enhance food quality, uniformity and safety, whilst also simplifying and organising working procedures and planning.
