Fitur 2008: Benin participates in FITUR for the first time
Fitur 2008: Benin will participate in FITUR for the first time, joining the increasing number of participants in the international trade fair, in particular from the African continent. The twenty-eighth edition of the Fair will welcome 880 exhibitors from 170 different countries or regions.
The Ministry of Tourism for Benin hopes to seduce visitors to FITUR through its art, traditions and its spectacular landscapes.
Among the varied range of activities on offer, the following are not to be missed: the possibility of visiting the historical capital of Alladah or the city of Ouidah, which is known as the centre of Voodoo, and the traditional port, which formed the centre of the slave trade. You can also visit the Kpassè sacred forest, the sacred python temple and a Portuguese fort, which are all located within the same region. Ganvié is another one of Benin's most exotic destinations. It is a village built on a lake and the inhabitants travel by canoe. You can visit the floating market and school. Benin has the privilege of sharing the W Natural Park with Nigeria and Burkina Faso. The park has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and offers the opportunity to go on safari by foot, bikes, 4x4s or canoes. This natural paradise is inhabited by giraffes, lions, hippopotamus and numerous colonies of birds, as well as other species. The range of tourism options offered by Benin at FITUR '08 are in addition to others such as Madagascar, São Tomé and Príncipe, Greenland and Bhutan, thus confirming the growing interest among Spanish tourists for new destinations. The incorporation of Benin also confirms the trade fair as an important business event for presenting products, generating trade relations and increasing client portfolios. The Benin stand will be in hall 6, where it will present its services alongside Asia-Pacific, International Hotel Chains and Global companies. The remaining international participants will be located in hall 10 (Europe, North Africa and the Middle East) and hall 8 (America). Those representing Spain (official entities and bodies as well as companies) will be located in halls 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 4, 12 and 14. The twenty-eighth edition of FITUR, the first large international event of the year for promoting commercial strategies within the tourism sector, will take over the 12 halls at the Madrid Trade Fair and will take place between 30 and 3 February 2008.
