Fitur 2007
The Fitur Congresos 2007 pre-tour programme will present Spain's potential as a meetings and congress destination to foreign buyers
FITUR CONGRESOS, the Meetings and Incentive Travel Workshop, which will take place on 29th and 30th January 2007 at Feria de Madrid, has prepared an extensive programme of activities and familiarisation trips (PRE-TOURS), as well as a series of guided tours and social events, for the foreign buyers who have been invited to take part on this occasion. This programme is organised in collaboration with TURESPAÑA, the Spain Convention Bureau, the Madrid Tourist Board-Madrid Convention Bureau and the Tourist Consortium of Madrid. The Pre-Tours Programme will provide an ideal complement to the trade activity and face-to-face interviews that are due to take place between the more than 200 foreign buyers and 150 Spanish sellers participating at this important business tourism workshop. Thus, the Workshop's traditional Pre-Tours Programme will take place over the few days prior to the staging of FITUR CONGRESOS 2007, specifically between Friday 26th and Sunday 28th January. The Programme consists of a series of familiarisation trips designed to present the congress and incentive products offered by the various regions throughout Spain, whilst also encouraging visitors to enjoy the historical, cultural and tourist attractions of the destinations in question. On this occasion, the PRE-TOURS PROGRAMME will offer a choice of 9 different itineraries to buyers: Asturias, Bilbao, Cantabria, Castile-Leon, Girona, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Valencia and Madrid, the event's host city. In addition, the Madrid Tourist Board-Madrid Convention Bureau and the Tourist Consortium of Madrid have prepared a series of guided tours throughout the capital and its surrounding areas, so that the foreign buyers can discover the varied tourism opportunities available throughout the region. On this occasion, the itinerary will include Aranjuez, Chinchón and the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid's football ground, and various venues prepared for staging meetings. Furthermore, various Social Events have been scheduled: the "Special Madrid Dinner" will take place on 29th January, organised by the Madrid Tourist Board-Madrid Convention Bureau, the Tourist Consortium of Madrid and the Madrid Chamber of Trade and Industry. On Tuesday 30th, TURESPAÑA will offer the Closing Dinner for FITUR CONGRESOS, which will take place at the Reina Sofía National Art Centre Museum and will include a viewing of Picasso's famous work, "Guernica". Finally, the foreign buyers taking part in the Meetings and Incentive Travel Workshop will be able to attend the opening ceremony of FITUR 2007, which will take place on Wednesday 31st January. This series of activities, all staged within the framework of FITUR CONGRESOS, will be of great interest to buyers and will help to achieve the Workshop's business objectives. In this respect, the Workshop has proven to be the best and most effective way of ensuring pre-established contacts between a large group of foreign buyers and the most important representatives of this tourist segment in Spain. According to a study carried out by TURESPAÑA among the buyers who participated at FITUR CONGRESOS ´04 and ´05, nearly 70% of the participants have staged some kind of event in Spain or have the intention of doing so in the near future, based on their participation at the Workshop. This is a high investment return, which simply goes to confirm the effectiveness of FITUR CONGRESOS as a trade fair forum.
