Living with wood
On 9th November "Living with Wood" was opened at Maderalia. This highly innovative space brings together wood with design and innovation to come up with many decorative solutions for construction. The presentation was attended by the General Secretary of Confemadera, Francesc de Paula Pons; the President of Living with Wood, Juan Prados; the President of Feria Valencia, Alberto Catalá; the Valencian Regional Minister for Business, Justo Nieto and the Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, Antoni Bernabé.
The project "Living with Wood" is part of a strategic policy implemented by the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries, CEI-Bois, developed by Confemadera in collaboration with the Nordic Timber Council (NTC), and with the support of several Spanish regional governments and business associations. This plan of action will continue until 2010, and its primary goal is to make wood the first material of choice in building and interior design in the whole of Europe. The "Living with Wood" project at Maderalia is the starting point for a whole series of activities, aimed at promoting wood and its products, putting the emphasis on concepts such as design, sustainability, quality, fashion or lifestyle, and aimed primarily at final users and specifiers. “Living with Wood" at Maderalia is based on a new concept in which different wood-based decorative environmental and construction solutions are engaged in dialogue. It shows how design, innovation, versatility and simplicity can interrelate and be mutually integrated. Various different spaces suggested a variety of settings and environments where all the components could be dismantled and reused. A space in which the natural values of wood were highlighted, but not so much through the product itself as through the concept, with a view to adapting to the demands of specifiers who are demanding innovative and functional criteria, reinvented spaces, innovative suggestions and languages, and contemporary proposals. The aim of the project “Living with Wood” is to help consumers to see wood as the main element for décor and designing the best possible ambience at home, and reinforcing the idea that it is the material best suited to create comfortable and healthy homes, underscoring wood as environmentally friendly, stressing its low energy consumption, and its suitability for innovation in design and contemporary lifestyles. To promote the use of wood, Confemadera is supported by the Nordic Timber Council, with training courses and direct information for consumers, architects, engineers, designers… in other words, all those professionals who, in one way or another, take part in the decision-making process.
