FIMI registers over 20% more visits on its opening day

The opening day at FIMI (International Fair of Children?s and Young People?s Fashion of Valencia) saw 20% more visits compared with the same day of its previous event.

As the Director of this international show, Pepa Ortiz, said "there are around 7000 children?s fashion retailers here in Spain and we can safely claim that virtually the whole of this sector travels to FIMI".
This 61st edition showcased all the new introductions for the coming 2006 Spring Summer Season, grouped together under the title of I Spy? suggesting a playful idea of a game of fashion in which more and more exhibiting brands want to take part.
These labels include some of Spain?s most successful fashion designers: Adolfo Domínguez, Francis Montesinos, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Devota & Lomba, Elio Bernhayer, Victorio & Lucchino and also Toni Miró, who presented a children?s collection for the first time and, naturally, he chose FIMI as the ideal setting for this debut.
Presentation of Children?s Fashion Europe
FIMI was also the chosen backdrop for the presentation of Children?s Fashion Europe. To be based in Valencia, this new European association was set up to look after the interests of the children?s fashion industry. The association is open to manufacturers of children?s fashion and baby and child care products and its priority goal is to improve the competitiveness of its members.
FIMI Awards
One of FIMI´s most popular events is undoubtedly its awards. Yesterday, the awards in the three categories went to DDP for Best Collection, AKR for Best Welcome at Stand, and finally to Portugal?s Children?s Fashion who received the award for Best Stand. The three awards were presented by Justo Nieto, the Regional Minister for Enterprises, University and Science, Alberto Catalá, President of Feria Valencia, and Amadeo Folqués, President of FIMI.
