The decision of the stands design competition at construtec 2006 is announced
The fair will take place at Feria de Madrid between 9th and 12th October 2006
IFEMA and the College of Architects of Madrid promote ephemeral architecture
Last 18th May 2006, the fairground at IFEMA provided the setting for the staging of the Fourth CONSTRUTEC 2006 Stands Design Competition. The exhibiting companies participating in this initiative will design their stands in accordance with the projects presented by the winning architects, within the framework of the Ninth Building Exhibition, CONSTRUTEC 2006, which will take place between 9th and 12th October next at Feria de Madrid.
These awards were founded at the previous edition of CONSTRUTEC, which took place in the year 2004, and continued at OFITEC 2006 and at the recently concluded International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show, VETECO 2006. This Competition, aimed at architects and sponsored by the Official College of Architects of Madrid, COAM, highlights the efforts that are being made by the College itself and IFEMA to grant greater prestige to ephemeral architecture through the creation of a number of designer stands.
On this occasion, a total of 7 companies have decided to participate in the Competition, based on the presentation of some 79 projects. Proof of the high quality of the entries is provided by the fact that the Jury granted a number of Honourable Mentions. The Jury's decision was as follows:
Hermanos Díaz Redondo:
Honourable Mention: “La montaña cerámica”, by Juan Carlos Larios Martínez, with the collaborators Ute Wehner, Daniel Aragoneses López and Jesús Manuel Rubio Merino.
Honourable Mention: “Intersección”, by Héctor David Arévalo Marchán.
La Paloma Cerámica y Gres:
Prize: “Pasaba por aquí”, by Fernando Jerez (collaborator Karla Silva)
Pregaia / Castelo:
Prize: “1+1=1”, by Julio de la Fuente and Natalia Gutiérrez
Nemetschek España:
Prize: “On / Off”, by Vicente de Paul Arroyo and Isabel Colino.
Honourable Mention: “Nube”, by Emilio Pemjean Muñoz (collaborator María Jimena González Tejer)
Honourable Mention: “Olealo”, by Lara Resco Sánchez.
Puertas San Rafale:
Prize: “Wonderstand”, by Marta Guerra and Pablo Pérez.
Honourable Mention: “Ábrete Sésamo”, by Raquel Manzano Barroso.
Honourable Mention: “El sueño del Minotauro”, by Carlos Minués Carrasco (collaborators: Rocío Pina Isla, Carmelo Rodríguez Cedillo, Enrique Espinosa Pérez, Matías Nieto Tolosa and David Pérez García.
Sika:
Prize: “Topografía de una marca, by Fernando Jerez (collaborator, Karla Silva).
Honourable Mention: “2.500.000 m2”, by Xavier Barrutieta Basurco (collaborators: Enrique Espinosa Pérez, Matías Nieto Tolosa and Carmelo Rodríguez Cedillo).
The Jury, chaired by the Head of CONSTRUTEC, Santiago Quiroga, featured the following members: José María García del Monte (Secretary) and Alberto Nicolau - both architects designated by COAM - and Jorge Ribadeneira and Isabel Barbas, winners at CONSTRUTEC 2004.
