CeMat 2008: Future of Logistics – International CeMAT Conference 2008

CeMAT 2008: International conference “Future of Logistics“ on 26 May 2008. On the day before CeMAT opens to the public, the first-ever international CeMAT conference will take place at the Convention Center on the Hannover Exhibition Grounds. Subtitled “The Future of Logistics”, this one-day event brings together 200 – 300 hand-picked business leaders, academics and policy-makers to examine the key issues confronting the logistics sector in the coming years.

“Worldwide there is no comparable event of this kind that examines and analyses visionary issues ranging from intralogistics to global supply chain management from the perspective of the futurologist“, explains project leader Prof. Dr. Stefan Walter from the Supply Management Institute SMI of the European Business School (EBS) in Wiesbaden/Oestrich-Winkel, which has been commissioned by Deutsche Messe to plan and organize the conference. The conference program will be developed not only with input from various concept groups consisting of experts from all the relevant scientific and industrial disciplines, but also – and for the first time – with the aid of a specially commissioned study on the future of logistics. The range of themes includes climate protection, raw materials, health care, disaster relief, future market developments and international collaboration in the year 2025, as well as cluster management and swarm behaviour in the logistics industry.
The international coverage of CeMAT will be reflected in the strong international make-up of the conference audience. The goal is to attract top decision-makers from the worlds of business, politics and science – with 80 per cent coming from outside Germany. The main focus is on wide-ranging international themes which place the whole subject of intralogistics in a wider industrial context.
