The latest design trends for the home are presented at Casa Pasarela 2007

Armchairs and chairs adapt to the shape of the body and sofas incorporate new installation systems for home cinema.

The garden will play a more prominent role at this edition, offering a number of innovations under the heading of chairs, sofas and high-quality lighting.

Nature emerges as a source of inspiration for new designer bathrooms, enabling users to re-discover authentic values.

Casa Pasarela 2007, which will take place between 15th and 18th February in Hall 5 at Feria de Madrid, will present the latest new features and cutting-edge designs from the best home furnishing brands and designers around the world. In this respect, Madrid will become the European capital of design, presenting the new ideas of more than 160 companies of international prestige to both professionals and members of the public who are interested in the top brands.

Practical Furniture Items Combine Relaxation and Design

Cassina will introduce us to Feltri this year, a felt armchair with a high or low back which boasts an entirely original design, based on a combination of cutting-edge, majestic, modern and rustic styles. The cushions are available in four colours.

The new ideas from Natuzzi for the year 2007 will be based on three styles that are radically different from one another. First of all, a fashion inspiration is evident in the idea known as "Glittering Day, Glittering Night". Gold, silver and bronze live up to their name in both classic pieces that have been reworked by the company and in the most avant-garde designs. Second, we will come across a trend that is becoming increasingly popular, the new Industrial Chic Look. Pure white and rubber black go hand in hand in order to make an impact and emphasise the sense of contrast. Finally, we will be invited to enjoy a universe of colour, based on a range of contrasts featuring acidic shades, bright and plain colours, smooth textures, dyed leather, velvet flowers and cotton in radiant shades.

Interlübke will exhibit its lounge furniture of an entirely multi-functional character. The aim of these furniture creations is to make the very most of the space that is available. Featuring straight, sober and elegant lines, this furniture employs the latest-generation automated systems that have the capability, for example, to open or close the doors when the television is switched on or turned off.

The German company has also designed a sliding-door system in order to achieve a series of different ambiences to suit the moment. This year, the system will also include light and automated features.

For its part, Move will opt for a furniture design of minimalist appeal, ideal for all corners of the modern home, based on a series of original and unique designs produced by Kairos, items that make an exclusive scenic impact. Its Onda Modular system will be based on the wave bracket, which revolutionises the whole idea of space organisation, introducing a strong dose of creativity.

Originality is also the main feature of the Boxx shelf designed by Denis Santachiara for Desalto, which can change appearance and length in order to adapt to different needs. Its structure introduces the concept of movement and enables the shelf to be set up in different positions depending on the effect desired and the space available. The same brand will present the Yuko chair designed by Pierluigi and made entirely of aluminium.

The company, Val-Eur, will bring together the past and the future with its collections inspired by the nineteen-twenties, nineteen-forties and nineteen-fifties. Its designs combine ingeniousness with a sense of elegance, as witnessed in the chair known as The After Dinner Position, which offers an adjustable back-support, thus making moments of conversation with family and friends as relaxing as possible. With the model Zero Gravity, the brand offers users the opportunity to relax in a position that exerts the least possible pressure on the body. With regard to its line of sofas, the brand introduces a technological dimension with its Music Image Sofa System. Based on a highly traditional design, this furniture item features pre-installation for audio equipment and is accompanied by a television cabinet designed to hold a home cinema.

Saloni will surprise visitors to the fair with Lammax, a revolutionary product for furniture-making that consists of a 3-millimetre-thick sheet of porcelain ceramics, which is characterised by being harder than granite and lighter than aluminium. This material can be handled and moulded with technologies that are applied to glass, ceramics and natural stone. It is also highly resistant to chemical substances and atmospheric agents, is enormously versatile and is green and recyclable.

The brand, Listone Giordano, which will exhibit its products alongside the Italian company, Margaritelli, will present its wooden flooring, which is characterised by its careful manufacturing process, wide-ranging selection and stringent quality tests and controls. The result is a unique product that offers a new life-style concept based on a natural, elegant and stylish appeal.

Another product that will undoubtedly create a unique environment within the home is known as Kinesis Personal by Technogym. This luxury tool offers users the possibility of carrying out 300 different exercises within the space of one square metre, whilst blending the world of design with that of physical exercise, without looking out of place with regard to the rest of the room.

The world of heating will be represented at Casa Pasarela through the participation of Ad Hoc, based on a unique collection of pieces designed by various different architects such as Fabio Berty and Giorgio Di Tulio. Heating is thus transformed to offer a designer appeal.

The Garden and Outdoor Areas: A Realm Not to Be Overlooked
Dedon will present its outdoor furniture collection known as Yin Yang at Casa Pasarela 2007, which is based on the harmony and fusion of different forms and fuses the two opposing poles of ancient Oriental philosophy. Dedon aims to create furniture items consisting of two mild and harmonious designs that alternate concave and convex surfaces and have a capacity for two persons. Four kilometres of bronze- and platinum-coloured fibre are used to make these furniture items.

Bivaq will exhibit an extensive collection of garden furniture, whose main new feature consists of the Sofa Clip, which is upholstered in materials that are highly resistant to both sun and rain. It is available in both two- and three-seat versions and is completed with an armchair and a footrest. Furthermore, the brand's most youthful new feature is the Mini Clip, which is designed to enable the user to lounge comfortably and in a relaxed manner close to the ground.

Within this field, Val-Eur will present a series of technical innovations such as itsquick dry cushions, which dry extremely rapidly and filter the water in order to avoid the emergence of mould and bad smells.

Designer Lighting

The company, Flos, will present Taraxum, a hanging lamp made up of twenty polished aluminium triangles and sixty bulbs arranged around this structure. This combination produces a futuristic appeal with a number of retro touches.

For its part, the company known as Artemide, through its distributor, Innovatione, will introduce the fair's visitors to Pipe, another hanging lamp that has a flexible steel structure painted grey, replete with transparent lenses in a rose-shaped format. The light from this lamp can be angled and channelled in soft-focus.

Bathrooms in Harmony with Nature

A monochrome appeal will be offered by the company, Tino, at Casa Pasarela 2007 for bathrooms that emit a strong sense of harmony and purity. Basalt, graphite, titanium and slate, all in pumiced finish, will play the leading role in the Metal Collection, whose dark shades offer an industrial feel that is also elegant.

This year, Hansgrohe will present a very diverse range of styles. First of all, we will come across the Axor Montreux Seriesby Phoenix Design, which is inspired by the Belle Époque and seeks to offer a perfect fusion between natural elegance and simple luxury. With this product, the company seeks to recover the sense of joie de vivre and passion for ostentation witnessed at the turn of the twentieth century, reflecting upon the past and on authentic values.

The Axor Masaud Collection, based on a series of simple designs, establishes an absolutely harmonious relationship between organic and geometric forms, between natural appeal and modern design, endowing the bathroom with a sense of natural beauty and a vivid ambience.

The series known as Zero, C and Verso, from Catalano, each consisting of a wide range of wash-basins, toilets and bidets, propose a number of comfortable and convenient solutions, designed to enhance quality of life. In order to achieve an exceptionally smooth finish, each piece is worked over with a sponge by hand before the enamel is applied.

For its part, Piba Marmi offers an entire world of elegance and sobriety in marble and stone. This collection offers the most classic varieties of marble, such as Travertino and Botticino marble, but also a range of more modern options from India and Brazil.

Dornbracht will maximize pleasure in the shower with its Balance Modules, which simulate rainfall in different levels of intensity: a strong jet of water in the morning and a relaxing spray in the evening.

The Kitchen Is the Heart of Many Homes

The company, Gunni, will exhibit its Varena kitchens, in which the designer, Carlo Colombo, opts for a youthful, simple, essential and contemporary image. These kitchens offer versatile spaces that are open to different interpretations and present all kinds of original solutions, both for small, compact spaces and spacious rooms. Their mild uniform lines are defined solely by the materials employed or by colour, whilst the thickness of the sideboards is reduced as far as possible, becoming the characteristic feature of each composition.

People is the kitchen brand range that offers us Comprex. A warm ambience, basic lines and spacious appeal are the three characteristics that the architects, Marconato and Zappa, have sought to incorporate into their project. The most notable innovation is the opening system for the cupboard doors, which is based on a "U-shaped" metal hook anchored in the structure of each item.  Variety is the main characteristic of the kitchens offered under the Comprex brand, providing a combination of different finishes in addition to an extensive range of colours.

Casa Pasarela 2007 will coincide with the staging of ARCO and Pasarela Cibeles. These three events will complement one another at a unique information and promotional forum that encompasses three dimensions of the world of creation: art, fashion and design.
