27th International Contemporary Art Fair
Arco 2008: The Great Masters at Arco 08.
The best of the 20th Century modern and avant-garde art in Madrid.
Every year, ARCO is a showcase for the best contemporary art in the world. Leading international galleries with programmes that include the great avant-garde artists of the 20th century, contribute to the diversity of the fair.
Cubism, Surrealism and Futurism are just some of the movements visitors will be able to look at in the General Programme. These works not only enhance the range on display at ARCO, but serve to establish a connection with the work of new young artists, helping visitors to fully understand and appreciate 21st century emerging and cutting-edge art. The work of great masters of the stature of Salvador Dalí, Oscar Domínguez, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Wifredo Lam, André Masson, Francis Picabia, Jean Dubuffet, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró are on view at ARCO8 in the booths of prestigious galleries like 1900-2000, Jeanne-Bucher, Orie-Reinz, Guillermo de Osma, Leandro Navarro, Manuel Barbié and Oriol Galeria D´Art. Besides the galleries specialized in the historic avant-gardes, ARCO can also boast a list of international galleries which represent the leading names in post-war and modern art. This is the case of Tyler Nahe Fine Art, Greenberg Van Doren, Hans Mayer, Rizziero Arte and Marlborough, with stands featuring work by masters like Fernando Botero, Francis Bacon, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Jean Michel Basquiat, George Baselitz and Willem de Kooning, among many other seminal artists. It is an outstanding selection that will attract the attention of leading international collectors, while at the same time providing an overview of contemporary art in its widest sense.
