Since its foundation in 1970 by the current president Mr. Paolo Benedetti , IMALhas steadily expanded over the decades to become a world leader in the manufacture and supply of plants and machinery for particle, MDF and OSB board processing.

The company now specialises in a range of high-tech instruments and equipment for glue blending and quality monitoring, as well as the supply of complete part new/part reconditioned plants, accompanied by full guarantee.

Mr. Paolo Benedetti and Mr. Loris Zanasi, both majority shareholders in the company, not only run the business, but are also actively involved in sales as well.

The IMAL head office and industrial unit are located in San Damaso ( Modena ), a small quiet town located in Northern Italy , and just a handy 20 minutes' drive from Bologna airport. Modena is of course a well-known industrialized city which can boast legendary car industries like Ferrari, Maserati, Bugatti, Lamborghini and De Tomaso.

The IMAL premises cover a total surface area of 14,000 m2 , where about 120 highly qualified employees fill a position in one of the following operative divisions:

The marketing and sales department utilizes the services of bilingual translators to provide customers with clear and easily interpretable quotations and documentation, in the languages most commonly spoken around the world today: English, German, French, Spanish and Russian.

The Engineering division, which extends over a surface area of 600 m2 , houses 20 CAD latest generation dual processor stations all equipped with 3D plant and machinery engineering systems and virtual simulation of the production process and operation.

The electronics department is constantly seeking new ideas to create innovative products and alternatives to standard supplies, which are vital to remain competitive on the market and to produce original products and equipment.

The activities of the Software department mainly involve the development of the management software for the single machines, as well as the PLC automation and visualization of complete lines.

Where applicable, the software management and control systems supplied are also translated for the customer into the most commonly spoken languages.

The investments made in research and development, combined with the use of the most advanced technology available today, have undoubtedly contributed to much of IMAL's success.
The company is fully computerized and PC network linked to provide fully integrated solutions.

As well as being certified ISO 9001 Vision 2000, various products of IMAL's range have also been TUV certified through the prestigious Munich Institute in Germany .

Recent IMAL innovations include:

Complete, patented press lines for the manufacture of pallet blocks from particleboard.

New fibre blending systems based on the application of a post dryer blender, enabling manufacturers to achieve a drastic reduction in resin consumption.

New OSB blending systems where fines are recovered from the process and resinated in a traditional particle board blender, making it possible to reduce the amount of wood and resin needed, and to reclaim material from the process which would not normally have been used.
